baby Bastian

I know its a small picture, sorry! Today we had our first ultra sound with the new kid. It was supposed to be just the Doppler but we couldn't hear the heart beat so they rushed me into the ultra sound. Apparently I am just a poor conductor of sound.
This kid has a strong heart beat and even though they were modest and kept their knees together the Dr said he thought he saw something (a protuberance of sorts?), but wouldn't commit to it.
4 more weeks and we'll know.
If you can see the picture at all, the kid is smiling at us, head is on the right, there is a right eye and a left and a large open mouth smile! Paxton was so excited that when we showed him this picture he kissed it.

Good Friends

Last night Paxton and I were able to visit with some dear friends of mine the Kasper's. Larry and LeeDelle. Larry and my Dad are friends from way back. I had some of my best memories with these two.
Right now they are coming back through from traveling across Country. They have been traveling since March from California and it sounds like they have had an awesome time! Made me wish I was out there with them!
I have a picture from Santa Catalina that I cannot find for the life of me. (Do you remember LeeDelle? Our fingers were closed for our tan lines?) Its one of my favorites!
We spent a week with Larry and LeeDelle on their boat deep sea fishing, hanging out in Catalina and the other side of the island Isthmus. Another trip we went to a place closer to Mammoth California and with pack mules we were taken miles into the sierra's and left there for a week. We were near some hot springs and had more food than we knew what to do with. There was a bear who visited pretty frequently and I got to realize that I like Spam :)
These two are dear friends of our family and I was so happy to be able to see them last night and introduce them to one of my little boys.
Thanks for stopping by Larry and LeeDelle. I hope the rest of your trip is WONDERFUL!

Beef Enchiladas

I got this off of the Old El Paso Enchilada sauce can, it's the best!
1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 can (19oz) Old El Paso enchilada sauce (any variety)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (6oz)
1 package flour tortillas (6in)
Directions
1. Heat over to 375 degrees. Lightly grease 13x9-inch glass baking dish. In 10-inch skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in 3/4 cup of the enchilada sauce and 1 cup of the cheese.
2. Spoon enchilada filling onto tortillas; roll up and place seam sides down in baking dish.
3. Pour remaining enchilada sauce over top; sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese. Bake 15-20 minutes or until hot.

a day with Dad

Today we were home making breakfast when Ryan walks in the door from work. I couldn't believe my eyes. I haven't seen this guy in two days. Usually he stays up for me at 1am so that we can talk at all. We joked a little bit about how it was nice to see eachother in the day light.
Turns out Ryan wasn't home from work but had a job pretty close by, so we all ran outside to watch Daddy.
Paxton's cousin Kyra was over so it was a pretty big day for him. Here he is breaking a twig to show you how strong he isRyan's slinger truckI have never watched Ryan at work. I have visited before but never actually seen him use the remote to drive his truck and to sling. It was pretty cool to watch and he laid down the soil almost perfectly. His boss came along with him to help him rake.
The boys loved it. It was actually pretty hard to keep Gauge from running to his Dad while he was here.
After Ryan finished on this job he came to our house and filled up a ditch we have wanted filled for YEARS!
When Ryan did get home from work today he went to work on the ditch. Paxton couldn't wait to help.
He was pretty serious with that shovel!

New Dish and still got a fish

Another keeper for the family. Beef Enchiladas. I am happy to report, those ones you see are mine. We have eaten them almost every day that I have been home since I found this recipe. This is a big deal!Freddy is still alive and flippin' Ryan and I both checked with each other and so far, neither one of us has secretly replaced him. This has to be some sort of record right?!
