Too funny!

We're wondering how business is for Mr. Thrifty!

It's Christmas at our house

Paxton has been on my case for some time to put up our Christmas decorations. Growing up we never put up decorations before Thanksgiving, usually we'd do it the day after. I realized though, that Christmas is really only a few weeks away and so far I haven't been feelin' it. It could be, perhaps, that my shoes are too tight. Or maybe my head hasn't been screwed on just right... Anyway, I decided that this year it would be okay to put up the decorations early.
We started with the decorations on Monday... and then we put up the tree on Tuesday. Well, I put up the tree. My little troopers decided that Christmas movies were way better so they became couch monkeys and hung out while I worked. The tree is decorated with ornaments from the waist up, for obvious reasons. We have our movies out, stockings up and a candy cane count down. Gauge has been given two ornaments that are both unbreakable which he continues to put on the tree, and take off of the tree whenever he gets a chance.

After we put up our decorations on Monday we hit the park with Dad so that he could have a break from his school stuff. It was COLD, but so beautiful!

When we got in the car to go home we were frozen and really happy. The sun was setting and Christmas lights were showing themselves through windows and on porches. As I looked out the window on the drive home I realized that my shoes were beginning to feel just right! Christmas here we come!

We love Cousins

I know that it's my fault because I am a hermit and don't have friends...but Paxton has a hard time not going on play dates. This is really because my schedule is opposite of everyone I know but play dates really don't happen much. So Paxton doesn't get play dates and besides school he doesn't get much of a chance to play with friends either. The good side of this is that Paxton has a million cousins.
On Wednesday Ryan's sister Heidi dropped in to say hello. We hung out with Heidi, Derek and the kids for most of the day and Paxton was in heaven. Especially because of Sydney, his 5 year old cousins. Finally a cousin almost his age!!
Heidi and Derek actually went out later that night with Sid and Leslie so Ryan and I offered to watch the kids so that they would have a night together. They happily accepted and the night was CRAZY!
They watched Christmas movies...
They ate pizza
and they dressed up in a hundred different costumes
They played Cops and Robbers and even put Ryan in jail (behind the railing). It was fun watching Ryan chase them all around the house and then watch them all chase Ryan around the house. He tried to stick the kids on me, but I got out of the chase because I had cookies...
It was SUCH a fun night!
We had a great time with Heidi and Derek too. They live in Colorado and we don't EVER get to see them. We love their kids and hope that sometime they can move closer so that we can see them more!! Thanks for stopping by and kicking it with us for awhile! We love you guys!

So Proud!

On Tuesday the 25th I went to pick Paxton up from school only to notice that his name was on "THE BOARD" At Paxton's school they have two boards with names on them. One is for Preschoolers who learn their alphabet, can recognize the letters and know what sound each letter makes including the two sounds that each vowel makes. The other board is for older school kids and they get their names posted on it when they can blend...
I walked into class to find that Paxton had his crown on and it confirmed it. My boy had made it. Paxton's teacher said he did it on his first try. When you make this accomplishment at school you get to wear a crown, the day is basically yours, and your name goes on the Big Board out in the hall.
Congratulation Paxton!! We are so proud of you!

Looking back

I was thinking back to when Paxton and Gauge were born when I was talking about Shelby with Paxton this morning. I went through lots of pictures with Paxton showing him that he used to be a baby too. He isn't sure I am telling him the truth, even with proof. I couldn't help but post some of the pictures.

Family time

I got to spend a whole day with my boys
Sunday I didn't have to sleep all day because I was able to have Saturday off for the funeral. So we had a family day. Ryan didn't touch his homework and we didn't do one responsible thing at all. It was so nice to do nothing else but spend time together! We took off to one of our favorite parks after a drive. There were some balls left on the playground so we got to work. Gauge got the big ball and the rest of us played BasketballRyan showed Paxton the basics
Then he schooled him! That's when I got onto the court and of course there are no pictures to document this because I was playing, but I schooled Ryan! True story- although he might have a different story...
Gauge pretty much got tired of Mom and Dad spending time together so he took off on his own.
This is where we found him. He took it upon himself to find his own park and he played on his own
Ryan and I got the hint and we hit the playground with the boys
One of Paxton's favorite games with Ryan is to sneak up on him while he is sitting on the slide, slide down and get him!
We were out for some time. I didn't get enough pictures. The weather was so beautiful it was therapeutic! We were pretty much outside all day. We went for a walk, spent a little time with my cute cousin Carson, had dinner together and then we set in after dark to color.
We colored some Turkey's for Thanksgiving and made another count down chain for the big November holiday.
I know your not supposed to pick favorites when your a parent, but isn't Gauge's turkey AWESOME?! (Its the one on the left) Notice the skill and that there was no going out of the lines! Yeah that's right! He is only 2

Getting closer

We hit 29 weeks today. We are getting so close to having Shelby here. We have set up her crib and I have her clothes out and ready for her. On Friday a friend of mine from work gave me this beautiful blanket and hat that she made for ShelbyI love it! I have put it in her crib and can't help but keep picking it up and looking at how small the little hat is. Thank you Kayla!!
