A day off

Last Thursday I decided that I needed a day off, so I took one. I surprised Ryan. I went to go get my ID license and left as though I were going to work, then I came home a half hour later. He was pretty surprised!
Excited about what the day would bring, we got going bright and early. Ryan had written down a few spots around Boise and Treasure Valley that we need to see and Camel back park was one of them. We printed out the directions and took off.I didn't understand the name of the park until we arrived.
How cool is that?! We played at the park for a little while and then Paxton couldn't stand it any longer. He wanted to climb the mountain. We all headed up. Shelby and I took a less steep trail around to the side and hit the stairs that took us to the top. Ryan and the boys braved the steep trail straight up.
It really is steeper than it looks. We had kids coming down with skinned arms and knees telling us to be careful...
Paxton found a rope
I was proud of my boys. No complaining, the just kept going
Shelby and I beat them to the top
When they got to the top the boys were ready to run around the world. You could see the whole valley up there and I think they felt great. They are doing a lot better when it comes to not giving up. When we first moved here I tried to teach Paxton how to tie his shoes and he complained that he was too tired and that his back hurt... We have been giving him chores and working on that a little bit and now he is climbing mountains (little ones) without one complaint. I think my boys are growing up!
"I did it, I did it!"
After the morning hike we ran some errands and took care of some chores and then we played in the back yard with the puppies until late. It was late too, the sun says up until almost 10:30!Have I mentioned that I love it here?

That climb is TOUGH! Proud of your boys for holding to the "iron rod" and finishing the climb to the top ...We have all had our turn slipping down that dirtslide at Camelback but the view at the top is so worth it. Good for you for taking the day and making a memory.

You'll have to ask Dan, but I think he tore the side of his knee coming down Camel Back. It is a geat climb and my kids loved playing their while we lived in Boise.
