This last weekend we had a chance to go to the lake. There was a little children's festival going on with crafts, games and free boat rides. I thought this would be something the boys would love so Ryan took us down to check it out.

We didn't end up riding on a boat, they were taking the little coast guard boat around the lake as a tour boat, but it was so packed with people and the line was so long we opted not to do it in the end. Paxton did however get to make a fish hat:
they had free food and face painting and Ryan won our new family pet...Freddy
Paxton was so excited to get this fish. He is pretty fond of him and although we tried to get Paxton to let him "swim free" before we even got home, I think we all kind of like Freddy. I have even caught Ryan checking him out and tapping on the glass a little bit when he thinks no one is looking.
We have been trying to get some things finished at home. Last summer we started a lot of projects and there are a few that need to be finished. We are working on some Electrical and Ryan is always working on modifications, everywhere. They were able to drive his race car a bit this weekend too. They are getting so close to the competition. I was actually able to get him to fly down instead of taking the BYU band wagon down. Which is great because riding with everyone else he wasn't allowed to travel on Sunday and they were going a couple of days early. I just can't miss him for that long. All in all we had a pretty good weekend. It was really nice to get out and now that we have Freddy, I don't think our lives will ever be the same.

Hahaha, it is true that fish can change lives. What a fun weekend! We go to the lake a lot during the Summer - we should totally go together! We'll take the boys out and just have lunch on the boat or something. It will be simple and great - lets do it. PS- how are you feeling?
Sounds like a fun weekend together with the fam. Don't get too attached to that fish....you might have to buy look alikes. I had a fish once and it lasted 3 days, I was too heart broken to get another one once I saw him circling down the porcelin graveyard.
Freddy "the Fish" Bastian: newest addition to the Bastian household. Congratulations! Great way to start of with the pets - a fish! I thought I'd be hearing about Freddy the dog sooner than the fish, but I guess that idea is still on the backburner. It will be so fun when our little guy is big enough to enjoy fun little adventures. It would look kind of weird if just Doug and I went to a children's festival or took our little baby who is clueless about what is going on. Hey, where is your princess post. I thought you did one??

Ya good luck with Freddy! My poor kids, that might be the extent of our pet collection, and I'm putting that off until I have to. How old is Paxton, How long do I have till my fish is expected? Sounds like it was a fun day at the lake.
What a fun day. How is Freddy doing?? Those are some great pictures of Paxton in his cowboy getup. He really is so funny and so sweet.
Fun - I miss the lake. We have the beach instead so I guess I can't complain. I love the pictures.
