Gauge revisited

This post is kind of a day in the life of our little Gauge. After only a few minutes outside...
he is found with dirt EVERYWHERE! This is actually a fairly common occurrence but today it was even in the diaper,
we really have no idea what happens. Usually its quite evident that he has been eating dirt...
(side note: No bowl was used in the making of that hair! It does that itself!)
Then tonight, since we are working on having him sleep in his own big boy bed we kind of let him wonder around a bit in his room until he falls asleep. Tonight after the racket stopped we realized it was time to put him to bed. I got downstairs first and couldn't find him anywhere. I started to panic just a little but knew he had to be in there somewhere. When I finally found the kid I called to Ryan, I could barely stop laughing...
Apparently there was some good reading down there.
Gauge is always making us smile!

Little Bones

Look what I found!
When I came across these pajamas Ryan and I decided we had to have them for Halloween. Unfortunately we couldn't wait for the holiday so it looks like Halloween is going to be here a little bit early this year.
I ordered these online and Paxton's came first. We made the poor kid wait to wear them until Gauge's arrived.
Today was the day! They absolutely love their new PJs
They love them so much that we tricked them into getting ready for bed at 6 tonight instead of 8--he he he!
They did some dances, they posed for pictures
we even turned out the lights to see them glow (I couldn't catch it on camera)then the boys got thrown...their favorite thing with Ryan at bedtimeHalloween here we come!

So much to blog!

You will all probably notice that I am posting a lot more than usual. The reason is that blog to book link that is at the bottom of my links of interest list. We just got the book in the mail and it is so amazing!
Its a hard bound book, and it includes every post that we wanted in there! So many pictures and memories, a complete journal for our family! Now I seem to want to put every picture into it because its for the boys and its basically going to be their baby book. (I don't really have the scrap booking skills required for anything else these days).
I will have to take pictures and show you all the book, but I highly recommend it!
So here are more pictures of my sweet boys. We had our camera with us at the park last week and took some cute shots.
What you don't see in this picture is that Ryan is chasing Gauge...Gauge is in a BIG hurry! I realize that when I post these videos all that you can hear is myself laughing. I must apologize for that but to be honest, that is how I am with my family. Ryan plays with these boys, carries them on his shoulders and pretends to run into things which gets Paxton and Gauge rolling! He chases them all over the playground or field or wherever we are and we all laugh the whole time. I love this time together!
I have been nesting I think. Lately I can't seem to clean enough and organize enough. All morning I have been in the boys room going through their clothes, pulling out warmer shirts and pants and putting away their shorts. I did a bit of shopping the other day...Ryan knew it was coming, but I found a sale on Old Navy.com where they had a huge bargain blowout and I found tons of stuff from 4.99 and under. I think that Shelby has all of the clothes that she is going to need for a couple of years!! :)
We are still trying to get Gauge to sleep in his big boy bed. He has figured out how to climb out of his crib now so to fix that we took out his mattress. Its hard to watch him sleep on only blankets but he seems to prefer it to his bed because otherwise he can't sleep. He has to be confined. Last night we put him down at 8:30 and at midnight he was still tearing things up down there. Paxton had gotten tired of being the police man and finally went to sleep without him. I even tried to sleep with him to get him to sleep on his bed but he just kept poking my eyes and playing with my hair while he talked up a storm. Hopefully he figures things out by February or we might have to buy a second crib!
Ryan has been working on school like crazy. I am really impressed with how serious he takes it. He treats it like he has a full time job and does his homework all day until its done. I sure couldn't do it. I am a bad procrastinator!
Paxton talks up a storm. He is in that phase where he asks you something and if you didn't hear it he will repeat it at least 700 times or until you acknowledge him. I love that he has so much to say and is questioning and learning so much but he is definitely teaching me patience. I am working really hard on trying to be attentive for him...Ryan is doing better than I am at that. Paxton is very observant too. He listens very well and understands so much. He picks things out of church meetings and questions me about what is being said and what is meant by what he heard and he loves to add his two cents about what is going on. He is getting big fast and although I am excited, I feel like I am losing my little boy!
That's about it for us lately. Ryan's little sister Ilene is getting married the beginning of October so we are getting ready to head out to California. I really can't wait to see his family. It will be nice to have a little vacation with mine too.
Its so nice to hear from you all. I really appreciate all of the comments about Shelby. Thanks for letting us share this happiness with you. We love you all so much!!

It rained today

Gauge could not wait to get outside. He loves puddles, he even dumps out his own water or juice around the house so that he can jump in it like its a puddle. Watching these two run around in the rain took me back to Paxton when he first danced in the rain.Gauge could only watch They are growing up too fast!

I've caught Girl fever!

Are you kidding me?!

Like having a girl isn't exciting enough!
I really didn't think that I wanted to have a girl (well, not yet anyway). I was sure I was going to have a boy, almost positive, because that's what we have, we have boys, we are a boy family! Ryan and I sat there at the Ultra Sound and the woman said that it was a girl and she would double check at the end of the ultra sound to verify. I really thought nothing of it, like as soon as she would double check she would see clearly that it was a boy.
She finished the ultra sound and was filling out a screen. Underneath gender she typed in Girl. I looked at Ryan like "WHAT?!" That's when we both realized...that was it! It was a girl!
I started to cry a little bit, overwhelmed, excited and scared all at once. I couldn't believe it! So many emotions hit right then, and they keep hitting us now, all of the time!
We are both so scared and so excited! It feels like we are having our first child! Since then I have started to get the hang of thinking "girly" and I am loving every minute of it.
I can't wait for Shelby to get here!

Some news

When Ryan and I found out we were having another baby we asked Paxton what he wanted to name the baby if it were a boy, or if it were a girl.
"Captain Jumps-a-lot" he said. "If its a boy that is his name".
and what if its a girl I asked...
"Darla"
Looks like Darla's coming...or Shelby because
We're having a girl!
Shelby Ryan
Paxton drew that picture at the top. We picked him up from school the other day and he showed us a picture of our family, which included the baby. We thought that was sweet.
(p.s, the largest figure on the right is Paxton)

Had to post

Over the weekend

I don't know what it is about the fall and the cooler weather, but it gives me a whole new wind. When school starts and the fall comes, the house needs to be clean and the junk needs to go. This year we had to cut down some dead trees...
We filled in an old ditch that has needed to be filled in for years
We pulled out all of the trucks and cleaned up the driveway
we washed carsand Ryan mowed the lawn. The boys helped!
After all our work, the boys got some time to play. Gauge is attempting to learn how to ride his trike and Paxton has mastered and I think outgrown his bike.Last but not least Paxton, Ryan and myself sat down to watch the BYU game this weekend and in case you happened to miss it, I will update you...
IT WAS A TOTAL BLOWOUT! 59-0 BYU Poor UCLA, they must have tried, right?! Every time they got the ball, BYU took it back. Almost every time they threw a pass, they would fumble it on the tackle. They just couldn't keep the ball and BYU proved that not only did they earn that win over Washington, but that they can kick some tail. They played almost flawlessly and the game was AWESOME to watch! Paxton was excited that this was his Dad's school and even decided he might like to play some football after watching the Cougars.
GO BYU!

Gauger's growing up!

Gauge now sits at the big boy table, he's pretty excited about it! He is working on sleeping in his big boy bed too!We feel like Gauge has come alive these last few months. He is playing games and he talks up a storm. My favorite is his "bye" its actually Yie Yie while he waves. He says Daddy, we can get him to say I love you (wuv vu) but we tried to get him to say it so many times that now he just growls at us when we say it to him. He is so eager to laugh, to give us kisses, to cuddle and he always wants to play. We are so happy to have this kid in our family.
We love you Gauge!
