Our Trip to California

This is Ryan's beautiful sister Ilene. We had the opportunity to go to California to see her be sealed to Morgan Compton. Have you seen a more beautiful bride?! Just wait until I get the wedding pictures up. SO Beautiful!!I didn't do a very good job taking pictures on this trip. We had such a wonderful time seeing everyone and even the trip was great even though I think we drove two days to be in California for two days. It was worth if to have the boys be with their cousins. It was worth it to be with our wonderful family and most of all to be there for Ilene's wedding. We decided that we should do it more often.
We drove half way on Wednesday night doing a caravan with Sid's family. Late that night we met Sarah and Dan in Winnemucca, NV and stayed until morning.
Thursday morning we finished the trip to Sacramento and the second we got there, the boys were gone!
JP and Christi have the perfect backyard! The boys were ready to move around and were overwhelmed I think with all of the cousins they had to play with.
I think this car was Gauge's favorite toy! When we got to the house ALL of Ryan's sisters were busy cooking. JP grabbed the boys and they got to work setting up tables and chairs for the brunch the next morning.
Lots of pictures were taken of everyone together. I wasn't really excited about that after all of the traveling... Most of the sisters and the sister in law's
Sarah and Whitney
Heidi and Katherine
When we left for California I had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction. I had gotten my dress and we had to take off on our trip. Ryan and I decided we would hand sew it and take it in so that it would fit me for the big day. Maternity wear is the best!
I mentioned this to Jennifer because she was doing some sewing for others and she offered to fix my dress. When I got the dress on you should have seen the swarm of Ryan's sisters all around me measuring, checking and talking about what needed to be done. Seconds later Jennifer got to work and within minutes my dress was done. They saved us probably hours!
Jennifer taking in my dress. Thank you so much!!
While we were hanging out in the kitchen Katherine wanted to get pictures of all of the couples kissing for a scrapbook she was putting together for Ilene. I caught a couple of the pictures
Outside catching up with everyone
We all got together to remenisce about JP and Christi's wedding and then we hung out for awhile before hitting the hotel for bed.
That night we hit the hotel. One of Paxton's most favorite things about traveling these days.
Paxton and Gauge love swimming and the closets. The reason they love the closet is because they can act like its an elevator. They could play in there forever!
They boys starting to settle down with mom
Gauge is so tired here! The next morning was wedding day. Ryan and I were up around five to start getting ready. We had to be up, ready, have the boys ready and to JPs pretty early. We let the boys sleep in a bit longer.
Sacramento sunrise
Next we went to the wedding, which I will post about later. Afterwards the boys sacked out!! They were pretty tired the whole trip. Most of the pictures I have are of them sleeping in the car.
We headed back to the hotel with about an hr to get ready and get back to Chrisi's for the brunch. The boys played a bit. Gauge played peek-a-boo
When we got back to JP and Chrisi's house we were able to sit back and enjoy everyone. I actually feel terrible saying that because you can just imagine 5 of Ryan's 6 sisters buzzing around the kitchen making everything perfect. They even doted on us and made sure that I was sitting when needed and had my feet up.
One of the best parts about this trip is that Ryan got to spend some time with his brothers. The boys would take random trips the get soda's so that they would have a minute to talk. I love that they are all so close! When Ilene and Morgan finally got a chance to sit down they were all alone for a minute...married. I couldn't bring myself to go sit with them because they finally had a minute together but I did take a stealthy shot of the happy couple eating together.
I really didn't take many pictures. I stole half of these from Katherine and will have to add more later as I get them. This one of Oliver though... If I was allowed to have a favorite nephew, he would be it. He is a few months older than Gauge and the most cuddly sweatheart EVER!
They boys played during the whole brunch. Gauge was spoiled by his cousin Wyatt who is standing behind him here. Wyatt followed him everywhere making sure he didn't get stuck or hurt, pushing him on the swings and in the cars and letting both Paxton and Gauge jump on the trampoline with all of the big kids. Thanks so much to Wyatt! He was my life saver!
That night we headed for the hotel to get ready for the reception and Gauge was out again.
We ended up leaving the reception early because the boys were to tired. Gauge laid on Ryan's shoulder the whole night. The next morning we all hung around for some hanging out time. JP took us to Old Town Sacramento to see the train museum and eat some lunch. Later that day we split and Sid's family went to watch the BYU game while the rest of us watched the Boise game at JPs and hung out for the rest of the night. The boys played outside.
(Sarah took these pictures of the boys)
It was nice being able to talk and laugh with Dan, Sarah, JP and Chrisi. We love those guys so much! We stayed the night at the house and hit the road the next morning. We drove the whole way home that day and probably slept the next two days.
It was a wonderful trip.

It was great getting to see you! I wish I looked as pretty as you when I was expecting! And thanks for letting me squish in with you and Jenn on the little loveseat outside and chat. Too bad I couldn't have stayed Sat and hung out with y'all some more. We will all have to get together again when Shelby is born.

P.S. I only take a 5% user fee for the photos - kiddin'-- You opened up the wonderful world of blogging to our family and it's the least I could do.

Old Town Sacramento is so cute. I wanted to go eat at the expensive restaurant on the boat, but we went to a Mexican joint, instead. You have the most animated children I have ever seen. It is SOO adorable. LOVE Ilene's hair and LOVE the cake! It makes me wish I was more creative and was willing to take more risks with my own wedding.
